This year, Prague’s Alma bar is building on last year’s successful experiment and, on the evening before the Prague Bar Show begins, will once again transform its venue into a multi-genre cocktail scene. The second edition of Bar Night will take place on a larger scale and will feature three prominent European guest bars, a special bar menu, and a tasting dinner paired with cocktails.

Last year’s pilot edition came about quite spontaneously. Alma’s bar team invited two leading figures in the world of mixology – Alex Kratena and Simone Caporale – and the evening quickly turned into an informal gathering of bartenders, guests, and friends from the bar scene who were already in Prague for the Prague Bar Show. The strong response from the audience and the atmosphere of the event ultimately led to the decision to turn it into a new tradition.

Three guest bars from the European elite

The second edition of Bar Night will be significantly bigger. Alma has invited three bars that rank among the most prominent establishments on the contemporary European cocktail scene. From Barcelona comes the team from Foco, a bar currently ranked 89th on The World’s 50 Best Bars list. Berlin will be represented by Wax On, which ranks 57th on the same list and is one of the most distinctive new establishments on the German bar scene. The third guest will be Budapest’s Elysian, which will not only host a pop-up bar in Prague but will also prepare a special gastronomic programme.

Each of the guest bars will offer three cocktails created using spirits from the Bacardi portfolio during the evening. Guests will thus be able to sample nine signature drinks in a single night, showcasing various approaches to contemporary European mixology.

Bar snacks from Alma’s kitchen

But Bar Night won’t be just about cocktails. Alma’s kitchen will also prepare a special selection of four to five bar snacks for the evening, designed to pair well with the cocktail menus of the guest bars. The venue will thus build on a concept that Alma has been developing for some time – combining bar culture with gastronomy within a restaurant setting.

Tasting dinner above the wine bar

A special programme will also take place in the meeting room above the wine bar. The Elysian team will prepare a limited-edition tasting dinner here, during which each course will be complemented by cocktail pairings and their own house sparkling drinks. The evening will thus offer two parallel experiences: a lively bar atmosphere in the main space and a more intimate gastronomic experience in the form of a paired dinner.

An informal launch of the Prague Bar Show

Bar Night aims to become the unofficial opening of the Prague Bar Show – a place where bartenders, guests, and friends from the bar community from across Europe can meet before the fair begins. If the organisers manage to recreate last year’s atmosphere while expanding the programme to include additional guests, this event could quickly become one of the most anticipated events of Prague Bar Week.
