Harrison Ford has played roles that are known all over the world. Now he has added a rather unusual one to his list: co-creator of his own whisky. He spent months working with Glenmorangie to find the flavour that suited him best. The result is a limited-edition single malt with pronounced citrus notes, subtle sweetness, and a surprisingly spicy character.

Harrison Ford and whisky? This time, it’s not a prop in a film. The Hollywood actor has embarked on a genuine process of tasting, comparing, and searching for the right casks. Together with Glenmorangie, he has created a limited edition intended, above all, to reflect his own taste.
The story began during the filming of the “Once Upon a Time in Scotland” campaign. Ford met Dr Bill Lumsden, Glenmorangie’s Head of Whisky Creation, and was given the opportunity to gain insight into a world where the final flavour is determined not only by raw ingredients, but also by casks, time, and the method of maturation. And it didn’t stop at a visit to the distillery. Ford and the Glenmorangie team tasted various samples, gradually searching for a combination that would match his vision of the ideal whisky. Dozens of samples travelled back and forth between Scotland and America before the final recipe was found.
Citrus, orange and a touch of surprise
The base of the Harrison Ford Limited Edition is whisky matured in ex-bourbon casks. Part of the resulting whisky was then finished in toasted Portuguese red-wine casks. These casks are intended to add a more pronounced structure, freshness, and a slightly spicy note to Glenmorangie’s classic elegance.
The aroma is fresh and citrusy, reminiscent of orange marmalade and complemented by floral notes of honeysuckle and jasmine. On the palate, Seville orange, lemon, and grapefruit come to the fore, gradually joined by more unexpected notes of toasted bread, apricots, muscovado sugar, and buttery caramel. This is followed by a long finish with orange oil, leather, and oaky tannins.
This is, therefore, a whisky that does not seek to captivate with just one distinctive flavour. Its character is meant to evolve and reveal itself gradually—from citrus freshness through sweeter, toasty notes to a drier, woody finish.
When an actor is more than just a face on a bottle
Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the collaboration is the way it came about. This time, Harrison Ford is not merely a celebrity who has lent his name to a finished product. He was genuinely involved in the selection process, tasting the individual variants alongside the distillery team.
“Glenmorangie Harrison Ford Limited Edition is exactly what I expect from a whisky,” says Ford in a press release. He adds that he enjoyed working with Dr Bill Lumsden and gained a newfound respect for the craftsmanship of the people who make whisky. Dr Bill Lumsden, for his part, describes the aim simply: to preserve Glenmorangie’s characteristic smoothness and elegance, whilst adding a more pronounced structure and freshness.
A whisky for Ford fans and single malt lovers alike
The limited edition has a bronze-gold colour and an alcohol content of 46.5 per cent. It will be available at selected outlets. For Glenmorangie, the collaboration with Ford is a natural continuation of a philosophy based on a combination of traditional craftsmanship and experimentation. The distillery in the Scottish Highlands has been producing single malt whisky for over 180 years and, under the leadership of Dr Bill Lumsden, has long been exploring new ways of working with flavour and maturation.
And so the new bottle tells two compelling stories. One belongs to Harrison Ford—an actor we associate with adventure, journeys, and iconic film characters. The other belongs to the whisky itself: citrusy and elegant, yet with a touch of unexpected bite.
The Glenmorangie Harrison Ford Limited Edition is, quite simply, a whisky worth starting with the question, “What does Harrison Ford drink?”—and then continuing with a tasting of your own.
