The world’s largest luxury-hotel brand is coming back to the Czech capital. IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) has signed an agreement to open InterContinental Prague — marking the highly anticipated return of InterContinental Hotels & Resorts to Prague’s urban landscape. The hotel will occupy a historic building from 1839 at Jeruzalémská 8 in Prague’s Old Town, part of a landmark portfolio managed by Generali Real Estate. InterContinental Prague will feature 137 rooms and is slated to open in the first half of 2029.

Over the years, the historic building has served many purposes — from dance hall to theatre, and more recently offices. Under the supervision of Generali Real Estate, the renovation will transform it into a luxury hotel that blends heritage architecture with contemporary hospitality.

At the heart of the hotel’s offering will be a full spa with wellness area and pool, a restaurant, bar, the brand’s signature Club InterContinental lounge, and even a private garden — a tranquil oasis amid the city hustle. For business travelers, modern conference facilities will also be available.

The hotel’s location is ideal: just steps from the Main Railway Station and within walking distance of iconic sights such as Charles Bridge, Old Town Square and the Prague Astronomical Clock. Excellent transport links will make getting around the city easy.

According to Willemijn Geels, Vice-President, Development, Europe at IHG: “We are honoured to begin our partnership with Generali Real Estate through this landmark signing in Prague, marking the return of our iconic InterContinental brand to the Czech Republic.”

Ramon Spoladore, Head of CEE & Nordics at Generali Real Estate, added: “We are delighted that our first collaboration with IHG will see us reimagine one of Prague’s most historical buildings into an InterContinental hotel — one of the most prestigious hospitality brands in the world.”

InterContinental Prague will join IHG’s existing hotels in the city — Holiday Inn Prague Congress Centre and Holiday Inn Prague Airport — expanding the group’s luxury and lifestyle hotel offering in the Czech capital.

With this ambitious project, IHG and Generali Real Estate are setting the stage for a new landmark in Prague’s hospitality scene — one that combines history, luxury and modern comfort for tourists and business travelers alike.
